Bring Some Spook Into Your Home for Halloween

As you get ready for this year’s Halloween,
I wanted to share with you
MY TOP 5 TIPS
on having THE best Halloween ever!

number-1DECORATE YOUR HOME

Decorate your home with spooky Halloween decorations, including: spiders webs, carved pumpkins, foggy cauldrons and creepy ghosts! I found some awesome ideas from one of my favorite magazines House Beautiful, from tasteful bunting to table decorations, there are so many Halloween home decor items to make!

If you want to go beyond the traditional Autumn leaves and decorate the walls, then the bigger and scarier, the better! Scary wall designs like skulls can also be posted on the wall for a modern-but-spooky effect. Best to get a wall mural that is easy to install - they work just like stickers: peel-it-and-stick-it! The best part is they will last for years, making it possible for you to use them over and over again. I’m loving this paisley patterned skull design!

number-2STOCK UP ON CANDY

Make sure to stock up on candy and place in a bowl near to your front door, to give out to any ghoulish callers who come and say ‘Trick or Treat’! You could even make trick or treat bags, filled with goodies for the kids that come to call. I love these handmade burlap bags from Crafts Unleashed, which look like a stylish but easy make.

number-3HAVE A HALLOWEEN MOVIE MARATHON

Stock up with your favorite scary movie’s, get your Halloween candy ready and prepare to be scared! With classics like ‘The Exorcist’, ‘Psycho’ and ‘Poltergeist’ to modern horror, you will be spoilt for choice! One of my favorite Halloween movies is Disney’s ‘Hocus Pocus’, the kids will be sure to love this one! If TV Shows are more your thing, I recommend old favorite ‘Buffy The Vampire Slayer’, with more comedy than scares, your night will be more laughs than screams!

hocus-pocus

Add the marvelous ‘Hocus Pocus’ to your Halloween movie marathon.

number-4HAVE A PARTY

Invite your friends and family over for a party, complete with costumes, Halloween home decor and outdoor decorations. With fun games like bobbing for apples and pumpkin carving your guests will have a wonderful time. I found some great ideas for party games from Martha Stewart, with ‘pop goes the pumpkin’ and ‘dead man’s guts’ to keep the kids entertained!
