Bright & Youthful Austin Interiors

Interiors that are timeless in style yet youthful in attitude -- that's exactly how I'd describe these gorgeous designs I've recently gotten to know. I have to say I’m quite impressed with the refreshing looks Sara Malek Barney and her team at BANDD DESIGN have created, adding next level style to contemporary, mid-century modern, and urban designs.

Here are a 4 of their looks that I’ve fallen in love with, and why they add something unique to the design industry:

Mixed Materials

From the tiled flooring to the wooden accent wall to the black steel accents, these three gorgeous materials come together superbly. Black proves to be a chic accent color, complementing the organic elements yet adding a youthful vibe. A variety of patterns, including striped, chevron, zig-zagged, and angled lines break up any monotonous feel of the mixed materials yet are then exquisitely re-balanced via the crisp white painted walls and bar area.

Urban Chic

The combination of traditional, slightly distressed woods accompanied by contemporary upholstered chairs, modern wall decor, and artisanal lighting create the perfect urban chic look. Smaller details, such as the silver nail head trim in the chairs, stylish center piece tray, and, of course, the bar cart take this room to the next level. Although the eyes first notice the larger statement pieces, i.e. the gorgeous gold vintage optical art, the finer details are what eventually sets this room apart. Plus, if you look closely, you’ll notice that the rich wooden table is on wheels -- a practical piece to have if you’re living in an urban area or entertain a lot.

Mid-Century Modern Glam

A bright and cheerful modern design that's soft on the eyes yet bold in character. The strong lines of the wooden chairs, glass table, and golden table base are softened by the banquette and curved pendants. Feminine lilac and yellow textiles further lighten up the space, complementing the gold accents and organic wood flooring.

When going modern eclectic, it can be easy to end up with a design with too many sharp edges and cold features, but BANDD DESIGN adds the perfect touches of soft and feminine accents along with neutral cream walls, modern farmhouse sliding barn door, and plenty natural light. This is a gorgeous room to wake up to!

Soft & Feminine

I love the fresh look of this dining room, light and airy with a few masculine features. While the contemporary-gothic chandeliers make for a one-of-a-kind statement, they are immediately softened with cornflower blue and cream upholstering. To anchor down this overall soft and feminine design, a mosaic feature wall and contemporary mirror fit seamlessly, both of which showcase soft curves and feminine styles.

The key to this interior is scale and balance, where gorgeous curves are met with tailored lines and pastel hues are met with stark black accents. The tension between such elements creates an exciting harmony that work in conjunction with the youthful patterns and wall decor.

With a cool mixture of furniture styles, complementary decor, artisanal accents, and unique lighting, Sara Barney really hones in on what makes a timeless design with a refreshing twist. While Sara definitely makes use of major design trends, such as mixed metals and exciting mosaics, these can be interpreted as secondary characteristics -- complementing the soft neutrals, natural lighting, and rich wooden tables (that prove to never go out of style). Sara’s unparalleled merging of trends with classics is what caught my attention and had me looking into her fresh, bright, and youthful designs.
