I WAS SHOPPING WITH FRIENDS THE OTHER NIGHT WHEN WE CAME ACROSS A QUAINT LITTLE SHABBY CHIC HOME DECOR STORE THAT WAS FILLED TO THE CEILING WITH AMAZING FINDS AND REPURPOSED FURNITURE.
I fell in love with the window display that featured a distressed white painted dresser and many candle holders in a soft aqua blue. The blue was so gorgeous that I wanted to see how it could fit into a home on a grander scale. I love the work from Houston interior design firm Amanda Carol Interiors, whose work features this beautiful color in many different ways. A stunning room full of natural light has been designed with comfort and style in mind. The neutral colors work well together with the addition of the aqua blue used for the ottomans, pillows and drapes. The bright pink fresh flowers give the room a”‘pop” of color that coordinates with the blue tones. I love the carefully placed home decor accessories and think the attention to detail gives the room character. I would really enjoy having a room like this in my house as a go to place for relaxing with a book, writing, and having a coffee (and gossip!) with friends. No wonder that Amanda Carol Interiors scooped an award for this design - congratulations - it is well deserved!

A wonderful bedroom with subtle aqua painted walls, coordinated window treatments, bedding, wall art, and ottoman. The neutral colors in the room paired with the aqua blue have a serene and calming effect. I love the added bright pink fresh flowers in the vase on the drawers; it’s such a great color. I would love to have a bedroom decorated like this, that aqua blue ottoman is just awesome! I wonder what they keep inside..!

This living room is just superb! The neutral colors work together with a patterned rug and striped curtains to create a warming interior. That “pop” of aqua blue color gives this room the “wow” factor for sure! That tufted ottoman (ok - I really need this in my life!) is an amazing centre piece, complete with a tray and carefully chosen home decor accessories. The ceramic aqua blue pot on the side table is just like one that I noticed in that cute shabby chic home decor shop! This is such a beautiful piece with a lattice patterned lid. The aqua blue tall vase on the fireplace is also a wonderful addition of coordinated color that ties the aqua items together in an elegant way. I would love to lounge in this living room, watching a movie or having friends round, although I would be scared of making a mess!

I put together a few pretty images from Pinterest that show off this graceful color, with pebbles, glass, plates, and a very handsome tufted sofa. The color works so well paired with white, other neutrals, and dark blue. I really like those plates in the upper right - with a lovely decorated box, wrapped with a teal cord and stamped with a dark blue seal - the color match is just perfect!
